The Glen was formerly part of the IBM Country Club site. In the 1940’s Thomas and Jeanette Watson of IBM directed the construction of beautiful stone bridges and hiking trails surrounding the creeks and waterfalls as a special amenity on the club grounds. After the club closed down, the 200 acre nature preserve was put into the care of the Waterman Center who manages it today.
The IBM Glen is a mature forest of maples, dark green hemlocks, tall oaks, and occasionally a white pine or two that is three feet in diameter which towers over them all. The "old growth forest" is located close to the 1-mile long stream that features cascading waterfalls. Diverse habitats, including the steep ravine, mature forest, small open fields, wetlands and waterfalls, attract migratory and nesting birds.
